Who is responsible for the electric fencing in a block of flats? If there is proof that the neighbours have damaged the fence are they liable to pay for the repairs?

Hi. If the neighbours admit that they broke the fence, then you can get them to pay for the repairs. It also depends on what the costs would be to repair the fence as if it is a small amount and you have difficult neighbours, i woudl suggest that you repair it at the body corporate's expense for the safety of your block. The body corporate is responsible for the electric fence if it is on the perimeter. If over the years the trustees have given permission for people to put up their own electric fence, then the owner of that specific unit is responsible.
